English: Harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) at Fjord- og Bæltcentret in Kerteminde, Denmark. The harbour porpoises kept at this facility participates in research to find a way to avoid that these small cetaceans are being killed by mistake in fishing nets. At the center are at the moment three harbour porpoises + one baby on its way (probably around august 2007). The jump out of the water as Eigil shows in this photo is not normal behaviour for this species, but is a trick this individual has been taught
Dansk: Marsvinet Eigil (Phocoena phocoena) hos Fjord- og Bæltcentret i Kerteminde. Marsvinene hos Fjord- og Bæltcentret deltager i forskning, der skal forhindre den store bifangst af marsvin i fiskenet. På centeret findes i øjeblikket tre marsvin + en marsvin-unge der forventes at blive født til august (2007). Springet som Eigil demonstrerer på fotoet er ikke normal adfærd hos arten, men er et trick som Eigil har lært under opholdet på centeret |
